Introduction

Initially appearing only as a silhouette in many of the early trailers and artworks, Devil Kazumi finally made an actual appearance as the game's final boss during Japan Amusement Expo, though it would take until the pre-release almost a week later to actually receive photos of her.

In earlier days of the series, Kazumi was the central figure to many of the questions and queries to the Devil Gene's true origins. Among the notes taken were the facts that Lars, Heihachi and Jinpachi (Though the artbook claims that Jinpachi had the Devil Gene, Harada revealed that he and the development cast intentionally wrote that to mislead fans), yet both Kazuya and Jin had the gene. Though his son and grandson believe Jinpachi to be the origin, only Heihachi has knowledge on the actual matter regarding the Devil Gene's beginnings. True to the guesses of many fans, Kazumi indeed has the Devil Gene, but she appears to have more control over her state in comparison to her son and grandson.

Noticeably, her wings are made of fire and seem to be based on the wings of a phoenix, which she can use to fly and hover back at alarming speeds during a fight, even more so than Jinpachi in Tekken 5. Aside from being able to use lasers like Devil and Devil Jin, Kazumi is able to conjure Tiger spirits to aid her, even in her human form. Design-wise, she might be based on Kyubi no Kitsune or the Inari, both fox spirits being affiliated with the color white, but as they are fox spirits (the latter actually being a god), in order to either prevent disaster or to pay respects, the color red is often affiliated with them as well.

Kazumi VS Kazuya.

Gameplay

Kazumi's moveset, shows a unique fighting style, but still utilizes "Mishima" moves such as their "Demon Slayer." In her devil form, she can now hover back and forth in the stage in a quicker manner than Jinpachi's flight in Tekken 5.

Story

Trivia

  • Once she is defeated in her human form, she will transform into her devil form, and fight the player. If she is beaten in one round as her regular self, she is seen kneeling, as surrounding lightning gets stronger, she gets up and transforms into her devil form. She then conjures a fireball to hit the player's character. The fireball causes a portion of the stage to sink into the lava, forcing the player to leap on the stable part, when they land, Kazumi confronts them, and the fight begins. When defeated, Kazumi collapses and attempts to reach out to the player's character, but the strain causes her to collapse. Soon, a green aura envelops the ground around her, and she dematerializes into multiple fireflies that fly out.
