Introduction

Zafina was introduced in Tekken 6, and she returned for Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion. She was first shown in the official trailer for Tekken 6 ([3]), where she was shown fighting Asuka Kazama and Jack-6. She is the defender of a royal family grave that was attacked by a heavily-armed group from another country. She dispelled the perpetrators single-handedly and in response, the family elder appoints her as the clan's sole assassin.

Trivia

Along with fighting in the trailer, Zafina also opened two doors and was shocked at what she saw. What she saw is unknown, but speculation leads it to have been Azazel.
Some of Zafina's animations that are shown before a fight feature her saying "Leave now if you value your life!", "This is a battle you won't walk away from!", "I've warned you.", and "Death becomes you." Some of Zafina's animations that are shown after winning a fight (win animations) feature her saying "Don't say I didn't warn you.", "I must hurry.", "Leave now, and you may live.", and "Your will isn't strong enough to change fate.". She also has an extra win animation which shows her crawling like a spider towards the camera. Then in another angle, she is seen to be actually crawling away from her lying unconscious opponent.
Zafina (and also Christie Monteiro in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection) can be customized to look like Princess Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin.
Her fighting moves are very popular by fans. It's considered like a snake-spider fighting style referred as creepy and powerful.
In the "Power is Everything" trailer for Bloodline Rebellion, Zafina is shown wielding two daggers (at 0:42 - 0:44).
In the Gamescom trailer, she can be heard saying "Kazuya Mishima is on the move." (at 0:55 - 0:57).
In Zafina's ending, her master wears robes that resemble those worn by Soul Calibur's Zasalamel ([4]).
Unlike the majority of the Tekken 6 characters, Zafina is not a boss in the Scenario Campaign mode. Instead, she allies with Lars Alexandersson (or another character of the player's choosing) and Raven to fight off an army of Tekken Force soldiers. After this, she gives them the location of the temple ruins that house Azazel.
Zafina is actually an Arabic name meaning "Victorious". The usage of this name is rare, so it is quite a special name.

General Description

Origin

According to Zafina's bio on the EU and NA Official Tekken websites, her nationality is Indian^[5], however, the original Japanese bio states it as being simply "Unknown"^[6]. Furthermore, some of her modifications suggest an Arabic background, and many of her attack names have Middle Eastern roots, such as names of ancient Sumerian, Babylonian, and other Mesopotamian gods (Enlil, Inanna, Namtar, Tiamat). It's possible the EU and NA sites made the assumption of her being Indian due to the origin of her fighting style.

Personality

Zafina seems to have a cold personality. She also appears to be threatening her opponent at times, due to her pre-fight quotes, such as "I warned you", "This is a battle you won't walk away from!", and "Death becomes you", as well as her win animation quote "Don't say I didn't warn you.". However, she appears to want to spare her opponent's life at times, due to her "Leave now if you value your life!" pre-fight quote and her "Leave now, and you may live" win animation quote. Zafina appears to be dedicated to her mission to destroy the two "evil stars", judging by her win animation quote "I must move on.". She also appears to, at times, enjoy fighting, as she can be heard laughing slightly after performing some of her moves. Other than this, very little is known about her personality.

Fighting Style

Zafina's fighting style is Kalarippayattu and Ancient Assassination. Zafina has moves that Director Katsuhiro Harada likened to that of a "spider". Zafina has three confirmed stances, the "Tarantula" stance, the "Scarecrow" stance, and the "Praying Mantis" stance. She has many moves for these stances, as well as many moves that can go into these stances. Some of the commands for Zafina's moves are "d+1+2 (goes into "Tarantula Stance")", "("Tarantula Stance") 4,3", "3+4 (goes into "Scarecrow Stance")", "("Scarecrow Stance") 3,4,4", "d+3+4 (goes into "Praying Mantis Stance")", and "("Praying Mantis Stance") 2,1,4". Also, d/f+2 is a high crush ([7]).

Zafina, who has great spiritual powers, was born to a group of spiritual warriors with an ancient past.

Since childhood, Zafina was raised to be a protector of an imperial temple. Several years ago, a foreign army attacked the imperial temple she and her group were protecting, and Zafina single handedly wiped every single one of them out. Since then, the group’s guru appointed her to be its sole assassin.

In her public life, she uses her spiritual powers as an astrologist, but recently, she can only see evil omens, and her premonitions grow more and more intense day by day. Seeking to understand the meaning behind all of this, Zafina sought the advice of her guru, and he began to tell her an ancient tale passed down from generation to generation only to a select few. According to the tale, two evil stars will shake the world when they come into contact, and, inevitably, the two will unite with the sealed ancient evil being protected by her group, destroying the world. Zafina considered the meaning behind the guru’s tale and her premonitions well.

Setting out on a course that took her far east, to the place the evil stars were believed to be gathering, she wanted to see if the world was truly going to end.
