[edit] Introduction
Roger Jr. is the son of Roger, a bioengineered kangaroo created by Doctor Boskonovitch. An important thing to note, is that while the character is called Roger Jr., the character actually controlled by the player is his (unnamed) mother.
[edit] Trivia
- All of Roger Jr.'s animations that are shown before and after a fight are identical to King's. However, in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Roger Jr. has a new win animation that King doesn't have. This win animation shows Roger Jr.'s mother jumping once, spinning around, and raising both of her arms.
- Roger Jr.'s sub-boss is Mokujin.
- Roger Jr.'s mother has no name, but she is referred to as "Roger Mama" in the Japanese storyline.
- Roger Jr.'s ending in Tekken 5 / Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection shows Roger watching Ling Xiaoyu's Tekken 3 ending on a television set.
- Although the colors of their gloves in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection are blue (Roger Jr.'s mother) and red (Roger Jr.), their Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection CG art still shows them wearing red gloves (Roger Jr.'s mother) and yellow gloves (Roger Jr.), like in their Tekken 5 CG art and their default Tekken 5 Player One (Square or Triangle) costume. The situation is similar in Tekken 6, where the colors of their gloves are red (Roger Jr.'s mother) and blue (Roger Jr.), but their Tekken 6 CG art image shows them wearing red gloves (Roger Jr.'s mother) and yellow gloves (Roger Jr.), again, like in their Tekken 5 CG art and their default Tekken 5 Player One (Square or Triangle) costume.
- Roger Jr.'s "Item Move" feature in Tekken 6 is the ability to summon levitating fish. Roger Jr. must be equipped with the "snorkle" customization item for this to work ([1]).
[edit] Story
Roger Jr. is the second generation of kangaroo that was genetically altered and bred for military use.
Roger was the first kangaroo born at the Mishima Zaibatsu biotech lab run by Kazuya. Shortly after Roger entered the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2, Roger Jr. was born and the family lived in peace.
However, one day Roger was taken away from his family. Feeling the recently announced King of Iron Fist Tournament might provide clues to his father's disappearance Roger Jr., tucked away in his mother's pouch, decided to enter the tournament.
[edit] Interludes
Stage 4: Mokujin
Roger's mother asks Mokujin if it has seen Roger. Mokujin answers saying that it hasn't, although it will help her if she wins. Roger's mother then points out that Mokujin wouldn't be able to help her, since it can't talk. Mokujin then points this out about Roger's mother. The two fight, and Roger Jr. wins. Mokujin tells Roger Jr. that it will not accept defeat. Roger Jr. continues to go anyway, promising to return later.
Note: After Roger Jr. defeates Mokujin, the words and actions of Roger Jr. and Mokujin are very similar to those of Jin Kazama and Hwoarang after Jin defeats Hwoarang in his (Jin's) Tekken 5 / Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Story mode.
Final Stage: Jinpachi Mishima
Roger Jr. walks through Final Stage 2. Jinpachi (in human form) walks up behind him and says, "I'm impressed that you've made it this far. I am Jinpachi Mishima. My goal... My goal is to destroy all existence!" Shortly after Jinpachi starts to speak, Roger Jr. turns around and notices him. After he finishes speaking, Jinpachi transforms into his "Devil" form.
[edit] Ending Animation
Roger Jr. has successfully infiltrated Doctor Boskonovitch's lab. He sees a picture of himself and Roger playing lying on the ground. Across from that picture is a barred door with the words "No unauthorized entry." Roger Jr. kicks open the door only to find a comfortably decorated room. Roger is shown sitting on the couch watching TV and sipping a drink through a crazy straw. Roger Jr. angrily looks at his father who is now nervous. Infuriated, Roger Jr. punches Roger into the ceiling, and then steps on the picture of him and his father.
NOTE: Roger watches Ling Xiaoyu's Tekken 3 Ending in the television set.
Roger Jr.'s storyline is unchanged between Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection.
Roger Jr. and his mom had participated in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to find his dad, who had gone missing. After the hardships of the tournament, they finally found Roger, but were shocked to see that he had not vanished, but was instead living a life of luxury. Soon after discovering this, Roger Jr.'s mom filed for a divorce and thus became a mother-child family. But their lives were hard, lonely and unstable. When the The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 was announced, Roger Jr.'s mom hoped she could win the money, and by doing so, allowing them to start new, more stable lives.
Roger Jr.'s storyline is unchanged between Tekken 6 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion.
