Introduction

Roger is a fictional character in the Tekken fighting game series who has made his first apperance in Tekken 2 and his last apperance in the non-canonical game Tekken Tag Tournament. Roger is a kangaroo that was made by Doctor Boskonovitch for the same purpose as Alex. Jun Kazama later arranged for Roger and Alex to live out their lives in Australia.

In Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament, Roger is the P1 costume (punch buttons triangle and square) and Alex is the P2 costume (kick buttons circle and X)

Trivia

  • Roger's wife, a female transgenic kangaroo, is unnamed at this time. But is referred as "Roger Mama".
  • Roger might be friends with Kuma because in Tekken Tag Tournament, if you partner Roger and Kuma II together at the start of the fight they will do a unique dance. But it's not confirmed if they even have a friendship.
  • The length of Roger's tail is shorter in Tekken Tag Tournament than it is in Tekken 5 and 6.

Story

Tekken 2

Tekken 2 Roger.

Roger, like Alex, is the result of a military experiment. Doctor Boskonovitch wanted to combine the genes of a martial artist with a wild animal. It is rumored that Doctor Abel has stolen Roger and Alex and he is keeping them with him in his secret laboratory.

Ending Animation "Wild Roger"

A countdown (from 3) of a wildlife docmentary is shown before the start of the scene. A traffic sign is seen with the words "Roger won" on it. A herd of kangaroos are hopping along the Outback. Before the finish, the scene is rewound and Roger can be seen running through the herd with his enhanced mind. The scene ends showing Roger waving a boxing gloved fist at the camera.

Tekken: The Motion Picture

Tekken: The Motion Picture Roger.

Roger is featured in Tekken: The Motion Picture. He is spotted by Lei Wulong while he and Jack-2 search for Doctor Boskonovitch. When Roger and Lei meet face to face, Lei cries "What the hell is that thing?!" It is unknown what happened to Roger after the Tournament, since he was not seen beyond this scene.

Tekken Tag Tournament

Tekken Tag Tournament Roger (on the right.).

Roger appears in Tekken Tag Tournament as a playable character. However, Tekken Tag Tournament is not a part of the Tekken series' canonical storyline. This is Roger's last appearance as a playable character in a Tekken game.

Ending Animation

Roger is playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with Yoshimitsu. Roger's boxing gloves force Roger to choose "Rock" every time. Knowing this, Yoshimitsu picks "Paper" every time and wins every time. This ending takes place in Paul Phoenix's Tekken Tag Tournament stage.

Tekken 5

Roger lived in peace after The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2, but one day, Roger was abducted. Roger's wife (she is the one who fights) and son (he just stays in his mother's pouch) enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 to save him. Their screen name is that of Roger's son, Roger Jr.. Roger appears in their Tekken 5 prologue and epilogue. After discovering that the reason that Roger was "abducted" was so that he could watch television and relax for the rest of his life, Roger Jr. sends Roger through the roof of the lab with a single punch.

Tekken 6 / Bloodline Rebellion

Asuka Kazama and Ling Xiaoyu encounter three Roger kangaroos in "Scenario Campaign".

In Roger Jr.'s Tekken 6 story, it states that, after the hardships of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Roger Jr. and his mother finally found Roger. They discovered that Roger was not adbucted, but he had been taken away to live a life of luxury instead. Soon after discovering this, Roger Jr.'s mother filed for divorce.

While not actually being a playable character in Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, some kangaroos that bear a resemblance to Roger appear in the "Scenario Campaign" mode as enemies.
