In the time between Tekken 3 and Tekken 5, Ho Chi Myong had turn into a frail old man and after a medical exam, it is revealed that he has an incurable terminal illness. The doctors note that a cure may possibly be found with the advanced technology of the Mishima Zaibatsu, which motivates both Eddy and Christie to join the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament.
Having failed to win the tournament, Eddy strikes a deal with Jin Kazama where in Jin promises to find a cure for Myong if Eddy joins the Tekken Force as a ranking officer. At the conclusion of the sixth tournament, it is however revealed that Myong's illness had taken its toll and Myong had passed away.
